Tharl Racers of Gor: Schedule Leagues Results Stats Information
The TRG Racing Leagues, A, B, and C
What are the leagues, and Why?
In the TRG, we have four leagues in which you can race, “A”, “B”, and “C”. When you begin racing. you start in League C. As you race, you can work your way up to League A by placing well in your races.
On race day, each league races one race each with tharls in Div 1, Div 2, and Div 3, for a total of three races. These are the “Point Races” that give you a score to determine who rises to the next league at the end of the month, and of course, who drops back a league. In addition, everyone can enter the Div 2 Blood Bath race, which is the first race of the day, and the Open Division race, which is the last race of the day. The Blood Bath and Open Division races are just fun races, with no points awarded.
Why have leagues? Leagues enable you to race against other racers that are at a similar skill level. Also, every racer is motivated to compete to earn the points to move into the next higher league, or to defend their spot in their current league. It makes for great competition and a lot of fun!
Advancing from League C to A
The “Point Races” are the Division 1, 2, and 3 races, run separately for League A, B, and C, for a total of 9 league races each race day. Tharl divisions are based on the maximum number of skill points (Speed, Turn, and Jump) that can be assigned to a tharlarion. (See the article on Leveling, Points, and Divisions). This gives you three races each race day to earn points by racing against the other racers in your league. If you come in first, you get 5 points, and second gets 4 points, and so on down to fifth with 1 point. The points you earn each race day are averaged over the month, to get your ranking for the month.
Only active racers have their scores counted in the competition. To be considered active, you have to race in at least 3 races in a month. There are 8 or 9 races per month. If you are active, your month’s score is the total of your top 3 races in the month. Awarding the top 3 races allows those who can’t make all the races in a month to have an even chance with those who are able to attend more races.
So how do you move up from League C to League A? The top two scores in leagues C and B move up to the next league, and the bottom two scores in leagues A and B move down to the next lower league. Those who don’t race enough to be active score 0 points for the month and will drop one league down.
In addition to competing for moving up, the top three racers in each league win a magnificent trophy at the end of the month, in our monthly racer meetings at Rock Run.
Fun and Competition Every Race!
This system of competition keeps us all practicing and working hard. It is said that the A league is a brutal place to be, and defending your spot in that league is very difficult! But every league is an all out battle! The exciting and ongoing competition makes every race day one to remember.
Have fun at the races!
